The National Thoroughbred Racing Association sponsors the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. This one-day series of races is held annually, at a different racetrack every year. Other than in 1996, when the event was held at the Woodbine Racetrack in Canada, it has always been held in the United States.
This annual event was designed to be a season-end championship competition for the North American thoroughbred racing sport. It has taken place every year since 1984, and attracts excellent horses from all around the globe, particularly Europe.
