You can say what you like about Martin, but his record stands up to the closest scrutiny and he just keeps on churning out winners year after year. Early in his career it may have been a case of quantity rather than quality, but with the number of big race wins growing all the time Martin now has to be respected as one of the best trainers of all time. With over 3000 winners to his name he has trained more winning racehorses than any other trainer in history. Regularly he sends out in excess of 200 winners a season. A figure that could only have been dreamt of before his arrival on the training scene. He has been Champion Trainer in terms of winners every single year since 1986 and Champion Trainer in terms of prize money eleven times. He has won the Champion Hurdle twice and has more wins at the Cheltenham Festival than any other working trainer. He has also won the Grand National. When not focusing on his string of jumpers he has also won a number of significant flat races. With Tony McCoy riding for him there is no end in site to the stream of winners that come from his yard.
