Pat has been knocking out winners at an alarming rate since his first in 1969. He now has well over 4000 winners to his name and is behind only Lester Piggott and Gordon Richards in the all time winners list. The winners tally includes fourteen classics with three Derby winners amongst them, Grundy (1975), Golden Fleece (1982) and Quest for Fame (1990). He has also been champion jockey eleven times during his career. Although champion jockey for four years in succession between 1974-7 success has been spread throughout his entire career. The last time he won the championship being 1996

During the mid to late eighties Pat also made the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe very much his own, winning in 1985, 86 and 87. These being added to his other victory in 1980. Still very much in demand it will be interesting to see just how close he can get to Gordon Richards record wins of 4870 before he hangs up his boots.
