It's safe to say that nobody alive today had the pleasure of seeing Eclipse run as he was foaled in 1764. During his career Eclipse ran in eighteen races. He was never whipped, never beaten and was never even headed. A remarkable record, highlighting a horse that was clearly far ahead of all his rivals. He was retired with his unblemished record in 1771. He took up stud duties and managed to sire three of the first five Derby winners.
